ASHEVILLE – The treatment that held so much hope for leukemia patient Paxten Mitchell and his family has failed. The 3-year-old’s white cell counts rose again Sunday.
According to the family's CaringBridge site this morning, the family has taken the boy home. Plans have been made for a Make a Wish trip to Disney World and the family will be leaving today for Florida.
Doctors stopped the chemotherapy Paxten had been receiving, athough he was still receiving drugs to lower his white blood cell count.Source: Asheville Citizen-Times
