WILMINGTON -- With less than a month left before the general
election, Republican presidential candidate John McCain will be stumping Monday in North Carolina. The town hall meeting at Cape Fear Community College is the Arizona senator’s first speech in the Tar Heel State since claiming the GOP nomination, but his campaign has visited multiple times in the last few weeks.
McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, stopped by the state last week to shore up support. She will return to Greensboro this week for a fund-raiser. His wife, Cindy, was in Concord this weekend for the Bank of America 500.
Campaign officials say they handed out all of the nearly 3,000
tickets for Monday’s speech in just 45 minutes.
