Loyal Republicans confront Burr

6/29/2007 06:37:00 AM
This morning about 35 North Carolinians showed up in person at Senator Richard Burr’s Winston Salem office, along with Bert Gutierrez of the Winston-Salem Journal. Reporters from WXII T.V., WSJS radio, and Que Pasa magazine also attended. The polite but unhappy group was demanding the opportunity to confront the senator in a conference call. In the words of former Congressional candidate, Vernon Robinson, “They were unhappy with Burr’s previous vote to yet again open up the debate on the immigration bill. And, they recognized that a vote for cloture was a vote for amnesty.”

Another former Congressional candidate, Nathan Tabor, was there. The group included many long time Republican activists who worked to get Burr elected. Marsha Fruehan of the Iredell County Republican Women’s Club was there. So too were Joyce Krawiec of Freedom Works, Rita Harker a GOP Forsyth county vice-chair; and Joan Fleming the NC GOP Republican Party Secretary.

According to Jim Capo of Greensboro, while the group contained a smattering of people from across the state, by and large, the group was composed mostly of hardcore Republican activists, many of whom had worked to get Burr elected, and who were very disappointed with the Senator’s recent signs of weakness on the illegal immigration issue.

Attendees came to the 8:00-10:00 am event in response to an email request posted by Jim Capo with the organization, North Carolinians to Stop the North American Union.

These youtube clips of the meeting should be online soon:

Helping the Homeless: Conservative vs Liberal (and Progressive) Principles

6/28/2007 05:25:00 AM

Fred Thompson and Hillary were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person.

The Republican, Fred Thompson, gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his office for a job. He then took $20 out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person to use to get a haircut/shave, get cleaned up and wash his clothes to report for work.

Hillary was very impressed, so when they came to another homeless person, she decided to help. She walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. She then reached into Thompson's pocket and got out $20. She kept $15 for her administrative fees and gave the homeless person $5.

Now, do you understand the difference?

Senator Richard Burr's office
Winston-Salem
Thursday, June 28th
8:00-10:00 am

All legal citizens of North Carolina Welcome

Be there to encourage our Senator do the right thing

Help make Richard Burr's unscheduled conference call on June 28th a success

If a sufficient number of citizens show up at Senator Burr's Winston-Salem office on Thursday from 8:00-10:00, it is likely that his staff will be able to locate him in Washington such that he can afford those he was elected to represent a few minutes in his busy schedule.

There is a conference room in Senator Burr's local office.
It has a speaker phone.
Richard Burr knows how to use it.

Contact the Senator:

Senator Richard Burr

2000 West First Street, Suite 508

Winston-Salem, NC 27104

Phone 800-685-8916 or 336-631-5125

Fax 336-725-4493

NOTES:

This will not be a march or street protest by lawbreakers.

This will simply be a spontaneous gathering of citizens asking for representation from their public servants.

Bring your cameras and cell phones not your signs and pitchforks. Senator Burr has one last chance to avoid facing the tar and feather crowd.

Only a handful of those who come out to Senator's Burr's office will be allowed inside to participate in any conference call. The rest will be able to know though that they helped make it happen.

Durham North Carolina or Asheville North Carolina?

6/26/2007 03:16:00 AM
We have a girl who is murdered and raped. We have two people held in jail for two years without charges, then released. A young man who was already in jail on a rape charge was to have confessed to the rape and murder of the girl.

The deputies that investigated the murder were later taken off the case as lead investigators. It had been a year and no progress was being made. The events occurred during an election year when the County Commissioners, Clerk of Court, District Attorney, and Sheriff were all up for election. There was a rumor that someone would run for the District Attorney’s seat. The current District Attorney, Ron Moore, had been in that office and few, if any, would consider a challenge to the powerful long time machine.

This created a sense of urgency to solve the crime as this was a horrible act and the District Attorney along with the Sheriff is the one to administer justice. The reported chain of events is as follows. A woman said she saw two men put a body in the trunk of a car. She was a former girlfriend of one of the men. John Elkins re-interviewed her later and her statement became less than clear. After reviewing the evidence, the investigators came to the conclusion that the two men were not the guilty parties. The only problem is that the men had been held in jail for two years.

This is only to true, as in the case of Andrew Reed, convicted child molester...prominent Democrat, was allowed to plead to lesser crimes, and given a mild sentence at a minimum custody prison camp in the eastern part of the state.

Similarities to this case? District Attorney Ron Moore, for one.

Let Asheville Vote

6/16/2007 07:03:00 AM
A Group of people are upset over the return to partisan elections in Asheville, and have started a petition drive, and now have a Yahoo! Group and a website called, Let Asheville Vote.

The Asheville Bloggers I am familar with have been silent on the issue, but not the Mountain Xpress, home of socialism in Asheville:

In a split and controversial vote, the Asheville City Council on Tuesday, June 12, decided to make the city’s mayoral and Council elections a partisan affair, pitting Democrats against Republicans (not to mention lesser parties and independents).

Mayor Terry Bellamy and Council members Jan Davis and Carl Mumpower voted against the measure. Those voting for it were Brownie Newman, Bryan Freeborn, Robin Cape and Vice-Mayor Holly Jones.

Unless a successful voter petition drive can be fulfilled within the next 30 days (followed by a voter referendum), the change will go into effect by the time of this year’s Sept. 11 primaries, followed by the city’s November general election.

Those voting against said the change was unnecessary and would hurt third-party candidates, who would be required to gather thousands of signatures via petition just to get on the ballot. Those who voted in favor said the move would help voters better decide who to vote for and should spur greater turnout, among other advantages.

Green Vandals Strike in Asheville

6/15/2007 05:06:00 PM
I found this little "after action report" quite possibly filed by one of the perps, or an associate thereof:

Asheville real-estate offices struck

Thursday, June 14 2007 @ 09:36 AM PDT

Contributed by: Anonymous
Views: 188

Early in the morning of June 14, windows were smashed out, locks were
glued, and spray paint was left behind at the offices of Beverly Hanks Realtors
and Private Mountain Communities in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. These
two companies play a major role in the destruction of our beautiful mountains by
perpetuating sprawl. BH and PMC both have exclusive rights to the marketing of
gated communities, where the priveleged build second homes in one of the most
diverse ecosystems in the US. Thousands upon thousands of acres of Western North
Carolina's mountains are stripped bare every year for these exclusive
developments where the rich attempt to shelter themselves from the rest of the
world.

We will not stand for the desecration of the trees, streams,
and creatures at the hands of greedy developers. Despite overwhelming public
opposition to these developments, the real estate companies and development
firms continue on their path of ecocide.

So we decided to hit them in the only way they understand--money. As
long as these scumbags continue their rape of the Earth, we will inflict
economic damage on them. Join us in taking militant direct action against the
developers in your neck of the woods. We must take responsibility for the land
that sustains us!

Just once, I wish I could catch some of these punks in the act of destroying someone else's hard-earned property. Attitude Adjustments would soon take place.

Saturday morning Update: The Mountain Xpress has an article about the vandalism.

Call Senators to Stop Amnesty

6/14/2007 06:11:00 AM
When you call your Elected Critters, please tell them we will accept no resolution on the Illegal Alien problem until the border fence is built, and operational!

I received this in my email, and decided to post it:

Pass this around!!

WCGOP BULLETIN

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) is one of the strongest voices speaking out against the immigration amnesty bill.

Sen. DeMint was just on the Laura Ingraham talk radio show updating her audience about the latest progress regarding this ridiculous bill.

He said the pressure senate Republicans are receiving from the White House is extreme, and some senators appear to be weakening upon hearing that there is the possibility of special supplementary funding to ensure the borders are secure.

You will remember, money was appropriated last year for nearly 900 miles of fencing.....not an inch of it has been built yet.

But to this point, the amnesty aspects of the bill remain intact, as do many other elements that, essentially, allow for the absorption of millions of illegals with little or no accountability for their lawbreaking, or acknowledgement of the millions of LEGAL immigrants who continue to wait for their citizenship.

DeMint said that ALL of our senators need to hear from their constituents. They need the support to justify their defiance of the White House's pressure to accept this amnesty bill.

Give Sen. Elizabeth Dole and Sen. Richard Burr your show of support for their efforts to stop this bill!

Phone calls and faxes are more effective than E-mails!

Sen. Elizabeth Dole:

Phone:202-224-6342 Fax: 202-224-1100
Sen. Richard Burr:

NC Legislators Ponder Trashing U.S. Constitution

6/13/2007 05:00:00 AM
North Carolina Legislators are considering changing the way North Carolina's 15 electoral Votes are cast, ignoring our choice for President, and letting other states dictate how our elctoral votes are cast. Don't believe they would be so stupid?

A snippet:

RALEIGH - Legislators in North Carolina, and other states across the country, are taking a look at changing the way voters elect a president.

Under a bill approved by the N.C. Senate last month, North Carolina’s 15 votes in the Electoral College would go to the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote instead of the winner of the North Carolina vote. The change would take effect only if enough other states pass similar bills.

The bill is part of a small but growing national movement to make sure that the candidate who gets the most votes nationwide wins the White House.

NC Senate Budget Reflects Republican Initiatives by RL Clark

6/01/2007 03:52:00 AM
Guest Commentary

As a Christian Conservative Republican and former member of the N C State Senate who many, many times stood alone and cast the lone NO vote on the Democrat budget, I am dismayed and in disbelief that all but 2 Senate republicans voted for a democrat slanted Marxist style budget bill.

It to me is truly sad for the State of N C and the Republican Party which is supposed to be the party of smaller government, less taxes and regulations, And less government in the lives of citizens they took a sworn oath to serve.

This vote is the reason I’m hearing from the hundreds of people I come In contact on a daily and weekly basis, THERE’S NO DIFFERENCE IN DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS!!

Apparently the majority of the republican senators are content with receiving the few “crumbs” falling to the floor from the royal Democrat banquet table, Which they appear to lap up with glee!

After all most are in safe “seats” given to them by their Democrat “masters.

Respectfully,

R L Clark

N C State Senator

1995-1996

1997-1998
